1973 Avion LaGrande 28"
Avion is considered to be one of the best trailers ever built and many would argue that it is better than an Airstream, at a lower price it is a better value. It was certainly built to last with lots of storage, real wood cabinets and even has a built in radio and cassette player. As I age I am taking the next step and converting a van to travel in, otherwise this beauty would still be mind. At $18,000 you are getting a Airstream look and reliably at a lower cost . Purchased six years ago, she got new tires, double batteries, water pump, furnace, toilet, kitchen sink and plumbing and since then a new water heater. All the draperies were custom made with matching quilted spreads, sheers underneath to match the original. A trailer for those who don"t want brown, such a refreshing look from new ones today. The dining table extends across the trailer and with the sofa -coverts to a queen bed- Seating and two original chairs, 5 can sit for dinner. Everything works wonderfully, including the original 3/4 Dometic refrigerator with aqua interior. She is very clean inside and out. With three hanging closets, a pantry, refrigerator with freezer, hot shower with tub, air conditioning and furnace you can take on any weather thrown at you for extended periods, as I had in three major trips totaling 25,000 miles, 9 months and lots of fun. She weighs 5000 lbs and with 1000 lbs payload a vehicle towing 8000 gives you peace of mine that it is large enough. I towed with an F150 with a tow package and sway bars are included at a $600 value new.
