More Information
This is a 1982 air cooled Vanagon Westfalia - a beautiful example of a true classic with a clean title and low miles. I purchased the vehicle from the previous owner who had it garage kept for 15 years. While in my possession, the vehicle spent the winter garaged and not exposed to salt roads.
I gave the interior a refresh while keeping the original design in mind. The vehicle has dynomat installed throughout the doors and deck lid and is topped with all new carpeting. The rear bed/bench has been redone with new foam and fabric by a professional with the matching OE pattern. All the vinyl throughout has been replaced. There are new curtains. The faucet has been replaced along with the fresh water pump -both OE design- and both are fully functioning. The fridge is also in working order. The propane tank, however, is original and the burners have never been used while in my ownership. I also have front seat cushion replacements and I had ordered new front seat fabric covers that matched the OE pattern over a year ago that have not yet come in.
Regarding the exterior, it's extremely clean and was repainted approximately 16 years ago. The paint is still in great shape and I had it topped off with G Techniq ultra ceramic coating -the hardest compound on the market- by professional installers. The body is in great shape, but the left front step pad has old rust present. I have the replacement part that will come with the vehicle. The driver"s floor had minor rust from an old water leak that I ground down, repainted with a rust inhibiter and covered with Dynomat. When I acquired the vehicle there was a dent on the passenger side rear wheel well area that I had recently repaired at a body shop and repainted to match perfectly. While at the body shop I had the front luggage rack repaired as well since the fiberglass was cracked. The wheels have been upgraded to Go Westy 16 inch wrapped with Michelin Defender LTX's with less than 1k on both. There are new mirrors -not flopping- and the shifter linkage has been rebuilt and shifts smoothly. The head lamps have been upgraded to LED's. There"s a new add room awning from Bus Depot included, which has only used one time.
The vehicle has been gone through by a local VW specialist and has a clean bill of health. The 4cyl air cooled motor runs and starts with the usual minor oil leaks. I have personally taken it on over 3 hour trips and it drives like an air cooled bus should - slow and steady. However being that it has over 106k on the original motor it could use a refresh and some cyl's are lower in compression than others. I also have the service history from the previous owner who spared no expense. Examples of repairs include: steering rack, oil cooler, ignition replacement, oil temp gauge installed, OE tent replacement, etc. There"s too many things to list.
