Who are we?

Well, that’s a great question…and, we’re ready with an answer. First, Becky and I (Maurrie) are truly sisters and we were brought up by an adventurous mother

whose name is Mazie. She was our best role model and taught us about enjoying the outdoors and becoming capable women. She is still with us, at 93, traveling and camping and fishing right along with us.

Thirteen years ago, in 1999, Becky and I were fishing in Montana, with Austin Lowder, my son, and our fishing outfitter and guide. One of us had the good luck to catch an 8-pound trout and we were celebrating with a glass of wine. We don’t tell you who had the catch…it’s a fish tale, ya’ know.

Well, we were having too much fun to keep all the good times to ourselves, so we decided to invite some of our girlfriends to go along on the next trip. Needless to say, that’s how we’ve rolled since. Along the way we decided it would be much more fun to outfit some vintage trailers and drag them down the road with us. How good it is to fall into your own feather bed at the end of a long day of fishing and wake to the smell of coffee right outside your door in the morning! Pretty good, I’d say.

These trailers took on personalities of their own, and that of their owners. They are proudly, and some fantastically, decorated with kitschy themes and love. Not all Sisters elect to have trailers. Some prefer tents, Bed & Breakfast suites, pickup truck beds, and any other place you can roll out a sleeping bag. It’s really a sight to see them rolling down the highway. Maybe you’ve seen us on a road in your neighborhood. Oh, did I tell you? There are now more than 2,400 members in this glorious group of women. We have members all over the United States, some in Canada, and England, and would you believe… even in Australia.

Our activities run the gamut from fly fishing, kayaking, cowgirl college, wine tasting, horseback riding and whatever else sounds like it might be fun. We don’t discriminate about race, religion, politics, or sexual orientation. Our goal is to bring women together to challenge themselves to be all they are capable of. It has been our distinct pleasure to watch women catch their first fish, tow their trailer alone for the first time and get it into its campsite, cook their first dutch oven meal, and paddle their first kayak.

If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, come along, we’ll save a spot for you. All that’s required is a willingness to take the first step into the next chapter of fun. For an annual fee of $60 you will be issued a number which identifies you as an official Sister, permits participation on our website and in our chatroom, opportunities to take part in more activities than you can possibly choose between, and a whole bunch of new Sisters you didn’t even know you had. The only requirement is you must be at least 21.

Sound good? Come on along, we’re waitin’ for ya’
