We have more fun than anyone

A chance meeting turns into a new friendship

One day, while pumping gas, I noticed a young woman also filling up her tank. When I finished, I drove out of the parking lot. Soon after, I heard a little voice in my head saying “Go Back.” I decided the worst thing that could happen was hearing “no thank you, not interested,” along with polite smiles and walking away. I approached the young woman and asked if she was boondocking. She smiled, said she was, and we started to chat.

Long story short, I invited Hanna from Colorado to join me for breakfast at Denny’s, which was right next door to the gas station. During our three hours together, we talked about Sisters on the Fly and how fortunate she was to have a computer-based job that suited an adventurous young woman on the road.

We said our goodbyes, and soon after, I received a text asking, “Are you far?, Dead battery.” This was my second gift of the day. I went back, jump-started her truck, and since she wasn’t familiar with Rogers, MN, I took her to the local Autozone to buy a charger. Meeting Hanna from Colorado turned out to be my lucky day.

I love that Hanna checks in with me now and then, sending photos and telling me where she is.

I’m grateful for the chance to meet young women like Hanna. We need to stay alert to these young minds. We still have a lot to learn from them and to share with them from our Sisters’ gifts. They are the “young us.” If only I knew then what I know now.
